Today’s post takes us to the Hetzel Union Building – better known as the “HUB” – to further explore Penn State fashions. The examples vary and reveal concepts as different as the people wearing them. The Collegian had a nice, if predictable, guest column today by Senator Arlen Spector. Spector asked Penn State students to consider careers in public service.
As students with all the idealism and energy of youth, I urge you to consider a career in politics or government.
Spector is a good man. As an 80 year old, he will run for re-election in 2010. Spector is the nation’s fifth oldest senator. Let’s hope he can work for Pennsylvania until he’s as old as Robert Bryd (the 91 year old Senator from West Virginia).
Dear Diary,
Sorry I stopped writing in you over winter break. You see, I accidentally left you in State College while I jetset across the continent. While I am certainly sad about Penn State losing the Rose Bowl, the trip out west was very fun. I got some sun. I got to wear a straw hat, my favorite. I bought my wife a pair of those puffy Ugg boots. I’ve noticed them to be quite popular around campus, but I don’t see why. They are not particularly attractive. They’re really warm you say? In that case, you could just wear flannel …

The pictures are of students watching the inauguration at the library. The Foster Auditorium is full of faculty, staff, and students.
