Defying the FDA and Penn State Food Services, Sisu, everyone’s favorite on-campus organic grocery, is selling Peanut Butter and Jelly Jam.
Chuck Wakefield, assistant director at Findlay Commons in East Halls, said the staff at the commons was well aware of the situation with peanut butter products.
“We naturally pulled all the peanut butter products off the menu,” he said.
I guess West Halls didn’t get the memo.
The Pennsylvania State Board of Education is looking into establishing bare-bones colleges, according to Philly.com.
No sports teams. No extracurriculars. No super gymnasium or plum dorm room.
If you have trouble envisioning this institution, perhaps the metaphor used by the Board of Education will help.
“Somewhere, there should be a no-frills option. Let’s see if there’s a market for a Yugo or a Ford,” board chairman Joseph Torsella said.
The idea is being sent over to Harrisburg for review by the House, Senate, and Governor Rendell.

Graham Spanier issued a statement this afternoon announcing Penn State’s participation in a Knights Apparel program (read: product) that has been endorsed by the Worker’s Rights Consortium.
The program, preliminarily labeled “Above & Beyond” by Knights Apparel, will serve to improve the lives of workers who manufacture collegiate apparel through offering higher standards in working conditions under which collegiate products are produced. The new approach features enhanced wages and benefits.
