Ira Glass, NPR host for “This American Life”, was in State College a tad over a fortnight ago to learn what it’s like to attend a university with one of the best football programs in the entire US of A.
Some reporters followed around freshmen, others attended frat parties, but Ira’s focus was on the football program. With the number one student section in the country, and alumni that turn State College into the third largest city in PA every home game, it’s safe to say we’ve got something special – he wanted to know what it was.
After interviewing some passionate young fans, they showed him around the infamous tailgating fields, and even got him a seat in the student section. Even though Indiana may not have been the game that exemplified the Penn State passion-filled pandemonium in our minds, I hope Mr. Glass got a newfound understanding of what a typical fall Saturday is like in the life of a Nittany Lion.
