Homecoming Announces Court

The Homecoming Executive Committee has announced the members of the 2010 Homecoming Court. The selectees are:

Ladies: Danielle DaSilva, Marina Johnson, Katherine Larimer, Jessica Pelliciotta, Katy Poole
Gentleman: Dan Cartwright, Dan Florencio, Curran McCready, Jared McKnight, Justin Ross

The ten hopefuls were chosen late Tuesday night after earning nominations from their peers, completing an application and interviewing with senior faculty, staff and distinguished members of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Dave Belliveau, Homecoming Royalty Director, believes the students on the Homecoming Court are a diverse representation of Penn State students.

“There was a major emphasis this year for students who spent time volunteering,” Belliveau said. “The court is comprised of students who are involved in diverse organizations, have juggled jobs with school and have given back to their communities.”

Selected members hail from such prominent campus organizations as: the THON Overall Committee, Lion Ambassadors, Lion Scouts, the Blue Band, the IFC Executive Council, among others.

The Homecoming Royalty Committee received 75 applications from nominees and narrowed the applicants down to 20 students. Faculty and alumni interviewed those 20 nominees Tuesday evening at the Hintz Family Alumni Center. Voting for Homecoming King and Queen will take place during Homecoming Week beginning October 4.

Senior Writes Final Column

Senior columns, with all their melodrama and platitudes, usually leave me eye-rolling and shaking my head with a vigor usually reserved for study abroad blog posts. But, as I graduate a week from today, I figured I should give it a go myself. Rather than discuss the origins of Onward State like Evan,  I’d just like to briefly thank a few individuals who have defined my Penn State experience.
