Afroman to Get High at Penn State

Afroman

Tonight State College will be graced by the presence of one of the most skilled and prolific lyricists of the last two decades. This artist has produced over 100 songs throughout his storied career and is to this day rolling out new musical gems. Yes, that’s right, Afroman (Joseph Foreman) is coming to Happy Valley. This Grammy-nominated artist who brought us the popular songs “Because I Got High” and “Crazy Rap” (better known as “Colt 45”) will be performing at 9 p.m. at the Mezzanine. Tickets are available at the door and cost $10.

I’ve been a pretty big Afroman fan for a while, and while I’m sure most people know his two most famous songs, it’s a well-kept secret that Afroman actually has produced 12 albums since his debut in 1999 (including two Christmas specials). For your convenience and education, here are the best five Afroman songs not called “Because I Got High” or “Crazy Rap”:

Pimpin’ Pennsylvania (Waiting to Inhale, 2008)

“I met this girl from State College, no degree just ghetto knowledge. She from Penn State, I’m from the state pen, I’m Afro Mutha F*$^ing M-A-N”

Before I Hit the Party (Frobama, 2009)

Because it’s true.  Before you hit the party you just need some Colt 45 and a bag of…chips

Drive Better Drunk (Afroholic…The Even Better Times, 2004)

Onward State in NO way condones drinking and driving. Unless you can drive that Cadillac like a hawk.

Let’s All Get Drunk (Sell Your Dope, 2000)

This is my go-to “get the party started” song. It should be yours, too.

Sell Your Dope (Sell Your Dope, 2000)

A heartfelt, emotional foray into the life, trials and tribulations of slinging yayo.

The Future of Footwear Comes to Penn State

A new fad has hit Penn State, one that threatens to be greater than Pogs, Pokemon, and Yo-yos combined. They make you feel like Buzz Aldrin, and make Sketchers’ ShapeUps look conservative.  I’m referring, of course, to Kangoo Jumps (KJs). Already rumored to be featured on the Richard Simmons comeback exercise video (full disclosure: the author started this rumor…right now), Kangoo Jumps are taking State College by storm, in all their goofy glory.
