Clint Gyory Out As Lion

UPDATE 12:22 p.m.: Associate Athletic Director Greg Myford has confirmed that Curtis White, head cheerleading coach, has dismissed Gyory as the result of a “violation of a team rule.”

It looks as though there may be more trouble associated with the Nittany Lion suit as sources close to the cheerleading program have told Onward State that Clint Gyory has been removed from his position as the beloved Penn State mascot.

Gyory, whose month-long suspension in September made national headlines, had been previously charged with underage drinking, public drunkenness and criminal mischief as part of an August 1 incident. It is speculated that his replacement during that month, Max Levi, will return to the suit to finish out the year as the Nittany Lion.

Rumors began circulating about the possible removal Saturday night as fans and Blue Band members alike noticed that Clint was not in the Nittany Lion suit. There is quite a noticeable difference between Clint, who is fairly medium in stature, and Max, who is well above six foot.
