Apply for the UPUA Board of Arbitration

Applications for the University Park Undergraduate Association Board of Arbitration are available in room 209 in the HUB from now until March 25. Students with an interest in law are strongly encouraged to apply.

As the judicial branch of UPUA, the Board hears internal disputes and election issues such as the recent debate over the candidacy of David Adewumi. Additionally, it serves as the Student Organization Conduct Committee, which allows interaction with student groups such as helping students start new orgs and governing those that exist now. The SOCC is also responsible for holding Student Organization Orientations which teach students how to start and maintain student groups, and explain resources available to benefit from. The next Student Organization Orientation is March 28 at 8pm in room 67 Willard.

The time commitment consists of weekly/bi-weekly meetings depending on the time of year (election time is busier for obvious reasons). The Board will be made up of nine members including a chair and a co-chair. Applicants are interviewed and selected by the current Board Chairperson, the UPUA President, and the advisor for the SOCC.

Stop by 209 HUB and apply now for your chance to influence the UPUA and student life at Penn State. For more information, email Alyssa Thomas.

Stoop Kid’s Afraid to Leave the Stoop

Editor and graduating senior Caity Rogowski writes about living the questions, facing fears, sharing burdens, and accepting reality.

“If you’ve ever seen the movie You’ve Got Mail, you’ll understand me when I say I have the “Kathleen Kelly Syndrome.” I often have trouble saying exactly what I mean. Instead, I find it easier to outsource by using quotes or songs to convey my message. That’s why you’ll find a few of my favorites scattered throughout this post: my senior column.”
