SPA Presents April Fool’s Comedy Month

This April, SPA will celebrate their 2nd Annual April Fool’s Comedy Month and trust me, it’s no joke with some of the acts they have booked. The event will feature several comedians throughout the month that will keep you laughing until the end of May.

Check out the Facebook event page or read the schedule below:

Mike Birbiglia*
Monday April 4th, Alumni Hall @ 8pm

This is the only ticketed event for the month. Tickets will be free and available March 28th – April 1st on the first floor of the HUB. Birbiglia is a Comedy Central favorite who has released 3 full-length stand-up albums and appears frequently on the Bob & Tom radio show. This is by far the best event of the month and there’s a reason why tickets will be required.

Reno 911 with Carlos & Cedric
Friday April 8th, Alumni Hall @ 10pm

Having seen these two perform before, I would highly recommend seeing Officer Jones and Officer Garcia from Reno 911! do stand-up, sketches and hilarious interaction with the audience. Since Reno is no longer on the air this is the best way to keep the show alive (even though Lieutenant Dangle and his short shorts won’t be in attendance). If you can’t make it to Birbig’s then this will satisfy your comedy needs.

Iliza Schlesinger
Tuesday April 12th, Heritage Hall @ 8pm

As the month continues, SPA brings Schlesinger, who is the first female winner of “Last Comic Standing” and is bound to bring the funny to the HUB. She is a stand-up performer and writer for several other shows. I know most female comedians are always hit or miss but hey, it’s free so try it out.

PSU Comedy Uncovered
Wednesday April 20th, HUB Auditorium @ 8pm

I have no idea what this exactly, but I can only assume it’s probably a collection of the Penn State comedy groups on campus and giving them a chance to perform as part of this comedy month.

Steve Byrne
Tuesday April 26th, Alumni Hall @ 8pm

Finishing off the month is the a comedian who has performed on “Premium Blend,” Tough Crowd” and “Chappelle’s Show.” He has had two Comedy Central one-hour specials and is a comedy veteran that is guaranteed to keep you rolling in your seat.

*This is the ONLY ticketed event for the month. Tickets will be FREE and available March 28th – April 1st on the first floor of the HUB.

Wash your home jersey, stock up on cases of Natty Light and make sure the cornhole and ladder golf sets have all their pieces. It’s almost football season and I can almost already smell the burgers cooking at 10 a.m. To celebrate the upcoming season, we at OnwardState along with our new friends from Stateshades.com will be running a contest giving away pairs of sunglasses.
