Meet the Coach: Penn State Hockey Gets Its “Guy”

On Sunday, Penn State announced that their search for their first men's hockey coach came to an end when word came that they hired Guy Gadowsky to take over the Division I program that begins play in 2012-2013.

For the Glory Days: University-Wide Senior Sendoff

Free food. Free t-shirts. Hanging out with the baby ducks. If you've learned anything in your last four (or five) years at Penn State, you know how great all of these truly are. Graduating seniors can enjoy all of these by attending the University Wide Senior Sendoff this Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hintz Alumni Center. Find out more after the jump.

Outgoing CCSG President Reflects on Tenure

Mohamed Raouda can remember the exact moment he knew he wanted to become the president of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments.

"I got involved in CCSG as a freshman, back in Altoona, and it was the first time I came up to University Park for Council," he recounts. "I realized how much bigger it was than just my one campus. I saw a collective of student governments fighting for the whole of the commonwealth."

Penn State Holds First Earth Day Event

On Friday, Penn State celebrated Earth Day with an exhibition in HUB Alumni Hall that featured dozens of local organizations in businesses dedicated to sustainable initiatives, ranging from the folks (and a bird) from Shaver's Creek to the newly tricked-out Penn State EcoCAR that was parked outside of Panda Express. The event also included speeches from a number of community icons, including President Graham Spanier and Mayor Elizabeth Goreham.

Greek Week: Sorority Suite Window Displays

In the spirit of Greek Week, sororities decorated the windows of their suites in Pollock with paintings of various themes. The paintings add some fun color to the dull buildings just in time for spring-- check out some of my favorites below, but if you're on campus head over to South Halls to see the rest!

UPUA Budget Ready to Go Before Assembly

The Internal Development Committee of the University Park Undergraduate Association met last night to discuss and finalize the UPUA budget submitted by President T.J. Bard and Vice President Courtney Lennartz. In addition to the Committee, many members of the UPUA Assembly and Executive Board attended the meeting. The budget passed the committee unanimously and will be brought to the floor of the Assembly next Wednesday.
