New Scoreboard Could Be Coming To Bryce Jordan Center

When the 2011-12 Nittany Lion basketball team takes the floor of the Bryce Jordan Center, not much will be the same compared to just a year ago. The same can now be said for the Bryce Jordan Center itself, as plans may be in the works for a major scoreboard upgrade.

The designs for the new scoreboard(s) come from Anthony James Partners, and they also feature designs for the new HD boards at Rec Hall as well as the plans for new HD video boards at Beaver Stadium and Pegula Ice Arena. Their website refers to the Bryce Jordan Center plans as a “New Single-Ring Centerhung Scoreboard and LED Fascia”. The finished product appears to be very similar to the scoreboard at Baylor University’s Ferrell Center, which would make sense given both schools’ partnership with ANC Sports.

Interestingly, one of the three designs shown in the gallery (and below) includes what appears to be a flat video scoreboard flanked by advertising on each side. Could this be added somewhere else in the arena?

Regardless, last season’s scoreboard malfunctions were embarrassing, and this upgrade would enhance the fan experience at the BJC by leaps and bounds. This could be yet another indication that the Penn State basketball programs and Athletic Department are building on the success of the past few seasons and are looking at a bright future ahead. However, there is no confirmation that it will happen for sure, so we will have to wait and see.
