Who’s Playing at THON 2012?

With the countdown to THON kickoff drawing near, the campus is filled with positive energy and a strong urge to break out some sweet dance moves.  One of the many questions asked by the student body is “Who is going to be keeping these dancers moving for 46 hours?”  Well I’m glad you asked.  There is a multitude of entertainment that will be taking the stage as well as the dance floor.

First off, there will be plenty of stretching activities for the dancers and the crowd.  Fitness instructors will be leading various types of exercises.  They will also be on the floor to help dancers stretch out their bodies for maximum comfort.

The stage will also be jam-packed with dance teams and dance instructors that will keep the dancers going and the crowd entertained.  There will be stepping, ballroom dancing, zumba, and an endless array of classics like the “Lawnmower” and the “Sprinkler”.  And don’t forget about all the fun games and toys that will be there like beach balls, water guns, and balloons!

Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of THON is when the bands take the stage.  Some of the acts for this year include local acts like Table Ten, My Hero Zero, Lowjack, and the ever popular Go Go Gadget.  The bands that will be playing are all notorious for their great stage performances across the bar scene in State College.  There is no doubt that all the bands will be performing covers of booty shaking pop hits as well as some good old fashioned rock n’ roll.

Here is a full list of all the bands that will be playing this weekend:

  • Table Ten
  • Fred Smoothe and the Midnight Social
  • My Hero Zero
  • Velveeta
  • Lowjack
  • Total Whiteout
  • Dave Joyce and The Long Barrels
  • Kate Weston
  • Gates Tomorrow
  • Go Go Gadget

With the number of dance and singing clubs all across the Penn State community, the entertainment for THON 2012 will be simply amazing. For those of you who are reading this article and have never been to the BJC during the most THONderful time of the year, (freshmen), brace yourself! This is, by far, the greatest weekend of the school year.
