Sam Ficken Selected for Quicken Loans All-Star Challenge

After his historic senior season and rollercoaster career, Sam Ficken will once again be honored for his performances.

Ficken was invited to the NFL Combine earlier this week, after being named to the AP All-Bowl Team for his great performance in the Pinstripe Bowl, and his next honor is right around the corner. He will be at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium this week to participate in the Speed Kick competition as a part of the Quicken Loans All-Star Challenge.

Plenty has been said and written about Sam Ficken, but the numbers back up how great he has been of late. He ranks fourth all-time in scoring at Penn State, and holds the single-season field goal record with 24. Ficken eclipsed the 100-point mark in each of his past three seasons and his 1.85 field goals made per game was the best mark in the Big Ten, and ranked fourth nationally.

Other notable Big Ten participants are Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah and Michigan State’s Trae Waynes.

The top-ranked kicker in the NFL Draft was already in Arlington, Texas this week to prepare for the event, to be held on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30, this Friday night.
