Whoop, Here It Is: The THON 2015 Line Dance

Each year, thousands of Penn State students gather in the BJC for THON weekend to support children and families touched by cancer and to celebrate life. Each year, a line dance rings in the background of the memories we make For The Kids. This year’s line dance, per usual, is rife with cultural references and popular songs from the year.

Without further ado, we give you the lyrics to the THON 2015 Line Dance.

Stretching:

Lean with it, rock with it / Penn State, now pop with it

Hands out, stretch back / Tighten up your fanny pack

46 on the clock / Grab your tutus and high socks

15,000 on your feet / Dancers, ya feel that beat?

Verse 1:

THON ’15 make some noise /  Nittany Lions, “We dem boyz”

Penn State Pride, For the Glory / Do it for the campus story

Wait, what? Chipotle’s closed? / Let’s go to Primanti Bros

Jamba Juice, brand new deli / HUB food, get in my belly!

Peace prize won by scholar / Neha Gupta, HOLLA!

Set, spike, victory / Lionettes make history

Pinstripe win in NYC / Seniors show their loyalty

Barbour Barron are on board / 409, wins restored!

Chorus:

Whoop! There it is! / We’re here for the kids

Raise the roof, don’t stop, don’t stop / Diamonds, up top, up top

Together, one family / Magic, the BJC

For the dreamers all year long / We Are! Penn State Strong

Verse 2: News/Sports

Nations mourn with France / “I’ll ride with you,” Aussies chant

Ferguson in the papers / Seeking peace for all our neighbors

“Interview” still presents / To tour the White House, hop the fence

Michelle, “Bring back our girls” / Ebola scare around the world

College playoff great for fans / King James back in his homeland

Jeter says farewell / No one catches like Odell

Stu Scott’s legacy / K.D.’s mom, MVP

Mo’Ne Davis came to play / Howard blocks for U.S.A.

Chorus:

Whoop! There it is! / We’re here for the kids

Raise the roof, don’t stop, don’t stop / Diamonds, up top, up top

Together, one family / Magic, the BJC

For the dreamers all year long / We Are! Penn State Strong

Verse 3: Culture

Did you know “apparently” / I’ve never been on live TV

Share a Coke with your friends / “How I Met Your Mother” ends

Venmo, name your price / Awareness builds, we dump ice

Genie, Doubtfire, Peter Pan / Robin’s off to Neverland

I know why the caged bird sings / Maya gains her wings

McConaughy, what a year / Adel Dazeem? Not here!

T. Swift pay to play / Starbucks lovers? What’d she say?

Bae, word of the year / Sia swings from chandeliers

(“1,2,3, 1,2,3, STRETCH / 1,2,3, 1,2,3, STRETCH”)

Crown yourself in Trivia Crack / Hurry up and play me back

iPhone 6 or iPad Air? / Bigger stage for Colbert

20 years for “Friends” crew / Watch them now on Netflix, too

Dance break coming up!

Dance Break Music

Chorus:

Whoop! There it is! / We’re here for the kids

Raise the roof, don’t stop, don’t stop / Diamonds, up top, up top

Together, one family / Magic, the BJC

For the dreamers all year long / We Are! Penn State Strong

Verse 4: THON

That BOOM BOOM atmosphere / Kicking cancer out of here

Look around, stands are packed / Woah! Where your diamonds at?

Run with us, far or near / THON store, almost here

Ent DJs mix it live / Hersheys Heroes fuel our drive

HONESTY – scream out loud / WISDOM – beyond the clouds

COURAGE – face the night / STRENGTH – find your light

Paint a face in the moon / Look closely and you’ll see yours, too

Dreams grow in these small hours / make them real, BE EMPOWERED!
