Join Onward State: Fall 2015 Applications

Do you want to see Penn State behind the scenes, reach thousands of people with your work, and have a great time while you’re at it? Then keep reading. If you don’t know what an oxford comma is or don’t enjoy fun, you can stop here.

Right now, we’re looking for a little bit of everything from our potential additions. Of course, our primary interest is in adding more of our bread and butter — students interested in creating content that helps generate conversation in the Penn State community, whether that be through reporting the news, photographing events, or making multimedia content. Students from all majors and walks of Penn State life are encouraged to apply.

Whether you want to be a writer, photographer, videographer, copy editor, or graphic designer (or some combination of those), we’re interested in bringing talented and ambitious students into the fold here at Onward State. With opportunities in all facets of media, Onward State leads Penn State student media with its community-driven focus on news. We maintain the largest Twitter and Facebook followings in college media and are proud to be the Penn State news outlet that students turn to the most.

If you’re interested in being on staff, know that writers will need to compose on a weekly basis, photographers and videographers will be expected to consistently contribute with creative and engaging content, and everyone on staff will need to generate several story ideas weekly. We also expect that you will be proud to work for one of the best student media organizations there is, of course. Our weekly meetings will be held on Sunday evenings, and attendance is mandatory.

Follow this link to access our application, which is due August 26. If you have any questions, send us an email. Hope to see your name on the masthead!
