THON Dancer Starts Unused Toy Drive For Hershey Medical Center

After dancing 46 hours for Delta Zeta in THON this February, Andrea Mateer realized how many toys and gifts she had received during Package and Mail Call that she never had the chance to open. Rather than throw these mementos out or have them collect dust, Mateer decided to begin a toy drive for children at Hershey Medical Center by reaching out to other dancers in the same situation.

In a Facebook post, Mateer stated, “ATTENTION ALL DANCERS: I’m sure many of you received some fun toys and games during Package and Mail Call THON Weekend. If your weekend flew by as quickly as mine seemed to, many of these toys were never even opened and remained in their packages! If this is the case and you don’t see yourself playing with these toys in the future, I am organizing a toy drive that I will bring to Hershey Medical Center for the children there! Due to infection prevention, all toys must be brand new and in their original packaging to be eligible to donate! Let’s put our unused toys to good use FTK!”

If dancers want to donate their unused toys to the drive, contact Mateer at [email protected]. She said she would be happy to pick up toys from any dancers who wish to contribute to the drive.
