The Next Stage Presents Opening Of ‘Some Assembly Required’

The Next Stage will perform the first part of its new series Some Assembly RequiredPart one, titled “What Does the Director Do?”, will be held Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. at The State Theatre.

The Next Stage is a nonprofit organization in State College. The group produces main stage production and offers acting classes as well. Their new series is meant to show the audience how a theatre production gets put together.

“The ‘Some Assembly Required’ series will show you what that team does,” said Karen Gregg, State College Theatre Executive Director. “The team includes the producer, the artistic director, the director of the play, the actors, the stage manager, and many others.”

According to the event’s Facebook page, “actors and script are raw material that the director makes into a play.” Mary Skees, who is in charge of production, collaborates “with the artistic director, decides which direction the play needs to go and then figures out how to help the actors get there.”

The general admission ticket section suggest a “pay what you please” range from $5 to $20 and can be purchased here.
