Interfraternity Council Implementing Internal Audit Committee

Penn State’s Interfraternity Council is in the process of implementing its newly-created Internal Audit Committee, which is a new initiative voted into the organization’s bylaws in November. The IFC has now chosen members to serve on the committee and chapter presidents will soon vote on a member to serve as committee chairman.

“The steps taken by the IFC chapter presidents show their commitment to improving our community and the fraternity experience at Penn State, and we look forward to working together to implement this peer accountability process,” IFC President John Lord said.

The organization hopes this committee will serve as a checks and balances system within its own ranks and to fight complacency as the IFC works toward positive change throughout the Greek life community at Penn State. It will also provide committee members with relevant experience and insight into managing large and complex organizations like the IFC.

“This committee will also allow for the IFC to be more responsive to the evolving situations and needs of our community,” IFC Vice President for Communications Daniel Lee said. “We believe this is a necessary step in leading our community into the New Era of Greek life, one characterized by safety, support, and unity.”
