Penn State Alums Featured On ‘America’s Got Talent’

We all know Penn Staters have got talent, folks. But two Nittany Lions proved that once again during their audition for “America’s Got Talent,” which premiered Tuesday night.

Jim Hogan, featured on the right, is a Penn State musical theatre alum and one-third of “T.3,” a New York City-based singing trio. Liam Fennecken, to the left, is also a Penn State grad.

The group formed when fellow member Brendan Smith slid into Hogan and Fennecken’s Instagram DMs after watching YouTube videos of them singing.

Hogan said during the audition that the group has been together for 14 months. Fennecken jumped in to say that T.3 hadn’t officially performed in front of a crowd until the audition.

For its audition, T.3 sang “Into the Unknown” from Disney’s “Frozen II.” And just based on the few minutes they were on stage, Fennecken, Hogan, and Smith clearly have some serious pipes.

Although T.3 didn’t get the iconic golden buzzer, the group was a hit and secured four yeses from judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara. Hogan and T.3 will head to the second round of auditions and vie for a spot in the America’s Got Talent’s live show.
