Report: Former FSU Defensive Back AJ Lytton Transfers To Penn State Football

James Franklin and Penn State football reportedly just picked up one of the most exciting transfer talents in recent memory.

Former Florida State defensive back AJ Lytton is headed to Happy Valley for the 2021 college football season according to a report by Lions247.

As a four-star prospect out of high school, Lytton was the No. 50 overall recruit in the 2018 class. The Upper Marlboro, MD native was originally offered by Penn State as a recruit, but he ultimately chose the Seminoles over programs like Alabama and Clemson.

Lytton didn’t see much time as a starter down in Tallahassee, but he did appear in 22 total games during his first two seasons. He totaled 14 tackles each of his years as a Seminole and recorded one interception during his freshman campaign.

The defensive back was reportedly removed from the FSU program following the 2019 season and didn’t see the field in 2020.

This addition will only bolster an already-impressive Nittany Lions secondary. The veteran presence of guys like Tariq Castro-Fields and Jaquan Brisker combined with exciting young stars like Joey Porter Jr. will likely prove to be a force to be reckoned with in 2021. Lytton is now the second member of the secondary to transfer into Penn State this offseason, joining former South Carolina cornerback Johnny Dixon.
