Overheard at Bid Day

In case you somehow missed the gaggle of screaming, bedazzled females sprinting their jegging-clad asses off from the HUB to Old Main yesterday, it was sorority Bid Day. And you know what Bid Day means: oodles and oodles of sorority girls conversing with their new sisters, whom they omglovesomuchholycrap already, even though they just met! What better place could I find to revive my pride and joy, the Overheard series? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Overheard at Bid Day.

Girl posing, to a boy on crutches who is struggling to take her picture: “Oh my god, you’re so dumb! Just take the picture!”

Sorority girl to new recruit: “We just met, but you feel like my actual sister.”

Sister taking a picture of new recruits: “Could you guys stand closer together and stop looking awkward?”

Male passerby to a friend, in wonder: “They all look so like… Matchy.”

Out-of-place GDI: “I’ve never seen so many skinny white girls in one place.”

Sorority sister losing her energy: “I think I need to go back and drink more…”

Sister in a flowered headband: “She literally just got in and she’s already annoying me.”

Sister to a recruit: “Jungle juice will change you into a different person.”

Nearby jugglers, observing the clusterfuck: “I can’t tell if the woman taking their pictures wants to kill them or not.”

Recruit, to her new sisters: “We need to get more pictures! Come on! New prof!”

Out-of-place GDI: “It feels like Sims University, when the Sims would join a sorority and chant in their Sim language.”

Sister in booty shorts: “I am sucking in so hard for this picture.”

Sister taking a photo: “One, two – stand closer together, it looks awkward – OMG, cover pic!”

Female passerby: “That girl has the same bag as me! Can I join her sorority now?”

Sister from DG: “Guys, leave your anchors here! Put them away!”
Another sister: “Anchors away!”

Sister in high-waisted shorts: “She’s seriously wearing yoga pants… So, she just doesn’t care at all then?”

Sister doing her sorority’s hand sign: “Thank GOD I just got a mani-pedi!”

Whiny sister, clearly tired of bid day: “Guyyyyyyy-zuh! Time to GTFO!”

*Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” comes on over the loudspeaker. Every sister screams the lyrics while gyrating and throwing their hands in the air; assumedly, they just don’t care*

Sister in jeggings: “I can see that girl’s ass cheeks in her high-waisted shorts. What the hell is wrong with people?”
Sister in a hat: “I don’t know, but butts are great. I’m glad we have them.”

Sister with a big, cheesy smile: “We’re Greek. You’re not. Congratulationnnnnns!”

Sister with a microphone: “Okay, ladies! We’re going to take five formal photos. Put your hands down, smile, and stay still, okay?” *groans of discontent from excited sororities* “It’s okay! We’ll do fun after!”

Sister in blue, to her new sister: “These tanks look so good with your coloring!”
Her new sister: “I know!”

And now, take a look at what we overheard about Bid Day on Twitter!

A special thanks to staff writer Sarah Hanrahan for helping me hear all of these lovely quotes.
