Athletics News and Blogs

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics currently supports 31 varsity sports in the Big Ten.

In the fall, the athletic program boasts the perennial-power women’s volleyball program with legendary coach Russ Rose and the team’s seven national titles. The women’s soccer team recently claimed its first NCAA Championship in 2015, while the field hockey program, led by hall of fame coach Char Morett-Curtiss, annually contends for conference and national recognition. The men’s soccer team hopes to get back to its success during a reign of three Big Ten Tournament titles and 32 NCAA tournament appearances.

Enthusiastic Pat Chambers has the men’s basketball team playing a scrappy and exciting brand of basketball, while Coquese Washington’s Lady Lions hope to recapture their glory years of winning conference championships and making runs in the NCAA Tournament. The wrestling team remains in position to repeat as national champions, and the men’s hockey team tries to reach new heights coming off its first Big Ten Championship in 2017.

Maggie Lucas and Alex “AB” Bentley are back with a vengeance to take down UConn on Dec 6th, and they aren’t afraid to dish it out to every team on the way.
