Both State College and Penn State offer a wide variety of entertainment options, from 26 bars and clubs in the downtown area to a number of music and performance venues, including the Bryce Jordan Center and The State Theatre. Happy Valley has hosted such performing greats as Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, Florida Georgia Line, and The Weeknd. Student groups like SOMA and SPA also provide both national acts and student art and entertainment on campus and the community is home to an up-and-coming local music scene.
Penn State’s Student Programming Association recently announced that two acclaimed filmmakers will be venturing to speak at Penn State in March.
Morgan Spurlock, who directed and starred in the acclaimed documentary “Super Size Me,” will speak Monday, March 19 in Schwab Auditorium at 8 p.m. Additionally, John Fox, writer and director of Academy Award-nominated documentary GasLand will speak on March 14 at 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall at the HUB. Both events are free.
