“It’s Now Up to Us.”

‘It’s now up to us.’

I’ve been hearing this phrase from a lot of you lately, on message boards and in Facebook statuses. After all, we will be a part of the first class of Nittany Lions to enter this great university after the last year has unfolded. To be honest, I’m more excited than ever. To be honest, I’m more pumped up to be a part of this class than the faculty, the media, or the world could ever imagine. Only you have that opportunity to share this with me.

Because it is now up to us to prove not who Penn State was, but who Penn State is.
Because it is now up to us to not just bring back the honor and trust, but to build our own legacies.
Because it is now up to us to show this isn’t just about football, but about a group of people who are unafraid to stand up for what they truly believe in.
Because it is now up to us to work harder, to shine brighter, and to rise higher than any who have stood before us.

Because WE ARE a new beginning.
Because WE ARE the rise of a new era.
Because WE ARE not to be taken lightly in our intentions.
Because WE ARE willing to strive for success against the naysayers and haters.
Because WE ARE restoring the roar, day by day.
Because WE ARE proud to bleed blue and white.
Because WE ARE the embodiment of Courage, Wisdom, Honesty, and Strength.
Because WE ARE leaders, now and in the future.
Because WE ARE here and plan to stay.
Because WE ARE the Class of 2016.
Because WE ARE Penn State.
