Since publishing our first post on November 17, 2008, Onward State has established itself as one of the quickest and most informative places for Penn State students, faculty, staff, and alumni to find the news that matters most to them. Our team of writers, photographers, videographers, and editors works hard to produce content that is, above all else, interesting and relevant.

Onward State in the News

In February 2009, the U.S. News & World Report’s Paper Trail Blog included Onward State in its annual Best of College Newspapers competition. Competing against older sites such as Bwog and Wesleying in the Best Alternative Media Outlet category, we ended up claiming the title. The Daily Collegian wrote about the victory.

Blogger Alison Go described Onward State as,

… as new as Joe Paterno is old, but this Penn State group blog is also as comprehensive as Nittany Lion fans are charming.

In January 2010, Onward State repeated its victory as Best Alternative Media Outlet. This time, blogger Jeff Greer wrote,

Face it, Onward State is to alternative student media outlets what Ohio State football is to the Big Ten.
