THON 2012 Theme Revealed

It is tradition that during every year’s Homecoming Parade, the THON Overall Committee reveals the year’s theme (just as the Homecoming theme is revealed every year during THON Weekend). That day has finally come, and so without further ado, I present the THON 2012 theme:

“Brighten Every Journey”

Public Relations Overall Kirsten Quisenberry told me this: “This theme means many things, but in brief it focuses on easing the journey of each Four Diamond family as they battle pediatric cancer, lightening the path of each student volunteer as they go through their college years and into young adulthood, and brightening the THON year from the beginning of the year through THON Weekend. Each of us has a journey and a story to tell.

What do you think about this year’s theme?

Jim’s Army & Navy: The Greatest Store Ever

For those of you who have ventured onto the west side of Beaver Avenue, there is a good chance you have passed by Jim’s Army & Navy. If you are one of those people, your first thought when passing by Jim’s was most likely, “What the hell is going on in this store?” When a store’s window display boasts handcuffs (they even come in pink), switchblades, throwing stars, machetes, other swords, and ammunition, you really have no choice but to be utterly confounded. Little did I know that I was about to walk into the greatest store ever.
