You might not have to worry about that bright orange day-ruiner tucked under your windshield wiper for a few weeks. Penn State Transportation Services and UPUA are partnering up again to extend student parking hours for the last week of classes and finals week, including a waive of the dreaded overnight parking restriction.
Here are the changes to Penn State’s parking policies, effective 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 through 7:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18:
Resident student permit holders will be allowed to park overnight at the East, Eisenhower, Nittany Parking decks, and of course any other lots already authorized by their permits. Students with off-campus permits — designated for the Commuter lot, Lot 43, and Lot 83 East — will be granted overnight access to all evening and weekend parking lots for some necessary conveniency during an exceptionally stressful week. Students with commuter permits are allowed to park at the Commuter lots located at Lot 44, Stadium West, and Porter North lots overnight.
Usual restrictions will continue to be enforced, meaning there will be no overnight student parking in Lot Green H or the HUB Parking Deck between the hours of 2-4 a.m., ADA and service spaces will remain reserved, and meters must be filled in order to park in metered spaces.
If you’re a student without on-campus parking privileges, temporary student permits can be purchased to ensure that you won’t be relegated to the CATA bus or the sidewalks on your way to campus come finals week.
The Parking Office is happy to answer any questions students may have, and can be reached by phone at 814-865-1436, or via email at email@example.com. You can also tweet them at @psuparking if you feel compelled to do so.
