Movin’ On just announced its 2016 lineup, and you’re not going to want to miss the upcoming spring festival.
Movin’ On has outdone itself, assembling a great lineup for this year’s concert with a packed set list featuring Walk the Moon, Nelly, X Ambassadors, MisterWives, and Sammy Adams. Here’s a breakdown of the artists and a Spotify playlist with some of their best tracks to get you into the Movin’ On spirit.
Walk the Moon
This year’s headliner has developed a nationwide following with its blend of alternative rock music and pop lyrics. This is a homecoming of sorts for Walk the Moon, as the group performed in Happy Valley in 2013 for a THON fundraiser. The group’s biggest hit is (no surprise here) “Shut Up and Dance,” but if you like that song you won’t dare look back at the rest.
Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., known and loved by the world as Nelly, will bring his mix of R&B, rap, and country to Happy Valley. Just like Walk the Moon, this isn’t Nelly’s first time at Penn State, but he hasn’t been back since he performed in 2005. Get ready to hear the applause from downtown when he plays his hits like “Ride Wit Me,” “Hot In Herre,” and “Just A Dream.”
X Ambassadors are new to the major music scene, as the group’s debut album just came out in 2015. But don’t let that fool you — Songs like “Renegades” and “Jungle” have made them a favorite among indie rock lovers.
MisterWives is bringing its indie pop tunes to Movin’ On. They have opened for artists like Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers, and American Authors. The group is best known for its songs like “Our Own House” and “Reflections.”
Sammy Adams is going to show Penn State he “Ain’t a rock band, no my shit’s never soft.” This is Adams’ second time in Happy Valley. The rapper performed at SPA’s Late Night in 2011. He played fan favorites like “All Night Longer” and “L.A. Story,” and left the folks in the HUB entertained.
The free festival will be open all attendees at the IM Fields West on April 29, which will kick off in the afternoon and run all day long. We compiled some of the most popular songs from each artist with a few lesser-known tunes in the mix to get you ready for this year’s festival. Let the countdown begin.
