Student Farm To Commemorate Summer Solstice With Second Annual Celebration

Penn State’s Student Farm will host a celebration of the summer solstice from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at the One Acre Student Farm on Big Hollow Road.

Those who attend the event will have the opportunity to spend part of the longest day of the year on a tour of the farm, which produces some of the herbs, fruits, and vegetables used in Penn State’s dining halls.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on and are also welcome to bring their own picnic dinners. The Student Farm asks that guests don’t bring any pets to the event to keep the produce growing on the farm safe.

Local band Hometime will take care of entertainment for the evening and  the Taste Buds Kitchen food truck will also be on hand for anyone who doesn’t have time to whip up a PB&J before heading out to the farm.

In case of inclement weather, the Student Farm will provide updates on Facebook.
