State College Police Investigating Disorderly Conduct At Acacia Fraternity House

State College police are investigating a disturbance at Acacia fraternity’s house reported over the weekend, according to a release published Monday afternoon.

Police said they arrived at the house around 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 14 and discovered an argument in progress between “many members” of Acacia and Delta Chi fraternities outside. There, police detained one Delta Chi member after they witnessed him throwing an object at an Acacia member, which interfered with their investigation.

The department said it may file charges after the active investigation is completed. It’s possible some charges may include citations for violations of the borough’s coronavirus mitigation ordinance, which places restrictions on in-person gatherings and enforces mask-wearing.

Anyone with more information surrounding the reported incident is encouraged to contact the department by phone at (814)-234-7150, by email, or through an anonymous tip through its website.

The incident at Acacia was first reported by Centre County Report Saturday afternoon. In its tweet, the outlet suggested more than 100 people attended the gathering.

At this time, Penn State hasn’t issued any disciplinary action toward either fraternity. The university has already suspended several fraternities this fall, including Phi Kappa Psi and Pi Kappa Alpha, for hosting large gatherings

In October, Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity received an unrelated suspension through 2024 for alleged hazing violations.

We’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.
