Report: Penn State Football’s Drew Hartlaub Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State football safety Drew Hartlaub has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, according to a report Tuesday by 247Sports’ Sean Fitz.

The Hanover, Pennsylvania native joined the Nittany Lions as a preferred walk-on run-on back in 2017 and has since made his presence felt on special teams. Hartlaub didn’t do much through his first two seasons in Happy Valley, but made four total tackles in 2019 and 2020.

The safety recovered a fumble on punt coverage against Purdue in 2019, and did the same in Penn State’s first victory of 2020 against Michigan.

Hartlaub joins a flurry of Nittany Lions who have entered the transfer portal over the past few weeks, including Antonio Shelton, Judge Culpepper, and CJ Thorpe. Shelton announced earlier this month he’ll spend his final season of college football as a Florida Gator, while Culpepper is headed to Toledo.

As a recruit during high school, Hartlaub also had attention from Albany and Army. He received an offer from Albany and took a visit to West Point in 2016, according to 247Sports. The safety has 11 tackles to his name as a Nittany Lion and has played in 28 total games.
