Penn State Football’s Micah Bowens Transfers To Oklahoma

Micah Bowens is officially leaving Happy Valley to become an Oklahoma Sooner.

The former Penn State football quarterback announced Tuesday afternoon that he is transferring to Oklahoma after just one year with James Franklin’s program.

Bowens came to Penn State as a three-star dual-threat quarterback. The Las Vegas native redshirted his freshman season and received no playing time during Penn State’s 2020 season.

Unfortunately for Bowens, the road to playing time wasn’t going to be any easier moving forward with the Nittany Lions. Starting quarterback Sean Clifford will be back next season along with Will Levis, Ta’Quan Roberson, Mason Stahl, and incoming freshman Christian Veilleux.

He now takes his talents to Oklahoma where he will attempt to earn more playing time under head coach Lincoln Riley. However, it won’t be easy, as the Sooners are returning star quarterback Spencer Rattler, who will be only a redshirt sophomore when the 2021 season kicks off. Rattler threw 28 touchdowns passes and totaled 3,031 yards through the air en route to being named a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press.

Bowens is the third Nittany Lion to officially transfer away from the program since the season ended, joining Antonio Shelton (Florida) and Judge Culpepper (Toledo).
