Penn State Women’s Volleyball Adds Two Huge Transfers To Begin Offseason

Well, folks. It’s safe to say Penn State women’s volleyball has already made a splash in the transfer portal this offseason.

The Nittany Lions welcomed two seasoned outside hitters — Maryland’s Erika Pritchard and Minnesota’s Adanna Rollins — to the program Wednesday. They’ll arrive in Happy Valley with one and two remaining years of eligibility, respectively.

Pritchard turned heads with the Terrapins earlier in her career and previously set Maryland’s career points record. A two-time All-Big Ten first-team honoree, she led Maryland with 285 kills over 20 matches this season, which was good for fourth in the conference.

Additionally, Pritchard served as a two-time captain for Maryland and will bring much-needed leadership to a notably young roster that played without a true senior this spring. She started all 116 matches in her career in College Park.

Rollins, meanwhile, contributed 186 kills for Minnesota this season on top of 187 digs and 41 total blocks. She earned second-team All-Big Ten honors this spring and was named an honorable mention All-American as a freshman in 2018.

Pritchard and Rollins will join a stacked Penn State lineup that already features hitters like Annie Cate Fitzpatrick, Jonni Parker, and Anastasiya Kudryashova. But thanks to their well-versed skill sets, the two transfers should easily compete for playing time when the Nittany Lions get rolling in the fall.

Penn State began its offseason just a few weeks ago following an NCAA Tournament loss to No. 4 seed Texas, which wound up falling to Kentucky in the national title match. The Nittany Lions will restock and reload over a shortened offseason before returning its youthful lineup for another season come August.
