Reliever Braden Halladay To Transfer From Penn State Baseball

Penn State baseball reliever Braden Halladay is transferring away from Happy Valley after two seasons with the program.

According to an announcement posted on his Instagram story, Halladay will leave the Nittany Lions to play for Tallahassee Community College. Moving south will bring him closer to his hometown of Odessa, Fla.

“I’m excited to be back home and compete next spring!” Halladay wrote on Instagram.

Although he played sparingly at Penn State, Halladay routinely showed promise. He made five appearances in his two seasons but allowed just two hits and no runs in 5.1 innings pitched.

Halladay is the son of late MLB Hall of Famer Roy Halladay, who won two Cy Young awards across his 15-year professional career with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies. In a 2020 ESPN documentary, Braden discussed his father’s prolific impact on his baseball career and journey to Penn State.

Halladay originally committed to Penn State back in December 2017. He was drafted No. 957 overall in the 2019 MLB Draft but chose to stick with the Nittany Lions.
