Valley Magazine kicked off Valley Week with a sweet fashion show yesterday at Campus Candy. As a release party for the Spring 2011 cover featuring Michal Berns, models strutted Sam McCloskey's sense of style in this season's new fashion by Connections, Flesh Decor and Mr. Charles with hair and makeup done by Lipstick.
This past Friday, after classes had ended, students once again retreated to the recesses of their dorms/apartments/houses, only emerging when it was time for a night of downtown debauchery. However, a small population of students forgoed an evening of couch surfin’ on some J. Shore, and spent some time at the Fifth Annual Penn State Arts Crawl.
In the spirit of Arts Crawl, but not as a planned part of it, was a house show by Lucas Carpenter last night. To describe Carpenter's live performance as entertaining would be an understatement. He's a one man band, high tech style.
Last week we explored Penn's Cave, one of the more commercialized outdoor day-trip spots in Centre County. This week, we make a 180° and look at a much more hidden hangout, only a half hour drive from State College.
The Underground Artisans Marketplace (UAM) held its alternative arts and crafts show on Saturday afternoon at the Schlow Centre County Library. Previously held at Chronic Town, the Artisans moved to Schlow for the first time to increase exposure to the community.
