Blue Band Featured in New iPhone Game

Penn State senior Matt Besong recently developed Fight on State, an iPhone app featuring the Penn State Blue Band that was released today. The premise of the game is help the drum major land his signature pregame flip. There's one catch, though -- the football team is still on the field, and charging at the drum major at an alarming rate!

GE Chairman Jeffrey Immelt to Visit Penn State

Big corporations love Penn State. This probably isn’t news to you, since you’ve likely read this oft-cited Wall Street Journal article ranking Penn State as the top destination for corporate recruiters, and it’s no secret that the university is contracted for research by many companies. Accordingly, executives from General Electric (GE), Siemens Corporation, and Volvo will be visiting Penn State over the next two weeks to highlight and discuss their respective relationships with the university.

An American Hero, Two Paternos, and Three Roses

Just over a month ago, the parents of Lt. Michael Murphy somberly walked southeast until they reached College Avenue. They roamed for three blocks and then made a sharp right-hand turn onto Heister Street, where muralist Michael Pilato was patiently waiting. Their son’s memorial had just been dedicated and now Murphy had been painted on the same mural that he walked past nearly every day as a student.

A rally to picket Central Mountain Highschool -- the school where Jerry Sandusky served as a volunteer coach and met Victim 1, now known as Aaron Fisher -- has been planned for Saturday in protest of the Keystone Central School District and in support of Fisher.

NPR’s Nina Totenberg Talks Supreme Court

Widely acclaimed broadcast journalist Nina Totenberg of National Public Radio spoke at Eisenhower Auditorium last night as part of the Student Programming Association’s Distinguished Speaker Series. As an expert in legal affairs with years of experience covering the Supreme Court, she spoke about her experiences and observations in her many years as a journalist.
