Last night in Stanford, California, the #3 seed Penn State men's volleyball team took down #2 Cal State Northridge in dominating fashion. The Nittany Lions swept the Matadors 3-0 (30-21, 30-23, 30-28) to lock down their 2nd national championship berth in the last three years. Senior Will Price and Sophomore Joe Sunder both led the team with 18 kills each. First team All-American Max Lipsitz led both teams with nine blocks from the middle.
With the men's team in the national championship this year, Penn State has had a team (men or women) in the finals of the volleyball national championship in five of the last six opportunities. The women's team, of course, has won three national championships in a row, going back to 2007. They have been utterly dominant in the sport, having strung together 102 consecutive wins.

Monday afternoon at Citizens Bank Ballpark, something more unusual than the Phillies losing to the Cardinals took place. 17 year-old Steve Consalvi decided it would be a good idea to run out onto the field, just for the heck of it. That trip ended poorly for him when a Philadelphia police officer decided to go all University of Florida on his ass and Tasered him in shallow left field.
Besides being immensely humorous, you're probably asking why this website is covering this. The answer is because Mr. Consalvi is "a real good student, heading to Penn State," according to his father. So if you've ever wondered what a taser feels like, you can ask him in person.

The THON 2010 Line Dance wasn't the only non-football activity that took place on the field during the Blue-White game on Saturday. The Homecoming Executive Committee also revealed the logo for Homecoming 2010.
Public Relations Director Caitlin Rush said that the committee chose the winning logo, designed by junior Veronica Clauss, because they "wanted a design that was unique to homecoming, that people could look at and know it was homecoming's logo. We were looking for something that was clean, sharp, and professional. A lot of the designs fell into that category, but the one we chose was definitely a favorite from the start."
