Penn State Scores Well in Sustainability Report

A new study released by the Sustainability Endowments Institute has given Penn State a B+ grade for campus and endowment sustainability activities. This score is up from the B given to the University last year. The annual study takes the 300 colleges and universities in the United States that have the largest endowments and assigns them a letter grade in 9 categories.

Wear White Against Michigan and Show Up Before 7

Surprising nobody, the Michigan-Penn State game Saturday night has been officially acknowledged as a student whiteout. The planning has been in the work for months now, ever since the Temple white house ticket snafu, but this marks the first time that Intercollegiate Athletics has acknowledged the student movement.

There Was a Canning “Situation” This Weekend

Mike "The Situation" that is! Kappa Delta sorority was lucky enough to receive a donation this weekend from the Jersey Shore star (in his personalized Bentley, natch). No word on how much he chipped in (hopefully a lot), but he joins in with other celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian and the several who retweeted her initial tweet.

PSU Prof Given Highest Award for Science Achievement

Last week, President Obama named Steve Benkovic, Evan Pugh Professor and Eberly Chair in Chemistry, as a recipient of the National Medal for Science. The National Medal of Science, awarded by the National Science Foundation, is the nation's highest award for achievement in science.

According to a press release issued by the Eberly College of Science, the award "honors individuals for pioneering scientific research in a range of fields that enhance our understanding of the world and lead to innovations and technologies that give the United States its global economic edge."

Turn Penn State Purple

All across the country today, people will be decked out in purple in support of young LGBT men and women who have taken their own lives due to homophobic abuse and discrimination. The national movement is being promoted by the Penn State Brandywine Gay-Straight Alliance, but is taking place at all campuses throughout the commonwealth.
