UPUA may have had all summer to write up new legislation, but that'll have to wait till next week as the first meeting of the semester only featured two items of new business on the agenda. Coupled with a presentation by VP of Student Affairs Damon Sims, this UPUA meeting will most likely go down as one of the more forgettable ones of the 8th Assembly.
A group of Penn State undergrads were able to take home first place at a design competition last week after designing a badass helicopter, called "Griffin". The AHS International Student Design Competition is a yearly event that tasks students with designing a vertical lift aircraft that meets certain requirements. This year, students were given the challenge of designing an helicopter that could fly during natural disasters. The design needed to be able to carry large payloads as well as reach the destination in the timely manner.
For the third straight year, the Penn State women's basketball team will be featured on national TV. On February 24th, the Nittany Lions will travel to Lincoln to take on Nebraska as a part of ESPN2's Big Monday series.
Penn State lost one of its greats yesterday as former Assistant Athletic Director Della Durant died at 84. During her time at Penn State, Durant played a critical role in the implementation of women's varsity sports.
