Penn State said continuing atypical instruction modes is necessary "given the evolving nature of the pandemic."

Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said the restriction is aimed at preventing college students from gathering in bars and restaurants.

According to the dashboard, 149 students are currently in on-campus isolation, while 76 students are in on-campus quarantine.

Additionally, the state will require restaurants that serve alcohol to close sales by 10 p.m. nightly.

The center will shift University Park's daily student surveillance testing from Vault Health to an in-house operation.

The quarantine, which retroactively dates back to Friday, September 4, will last until at least Saturday, September 14.
