State College Police are calling an early morning fire outside a Penn State fraternity house "suspicious."
The Owner of Jamaica Junction is sentenced to serve 11 and-a-half to 23 and-a-half months in the Centre County Correctional Facility for selling synthetic marijuana from his store. Last September, Michael Hultberg pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver and possession of paraphernalia with intent to deliver. In addition to the jail sentence Hultberg will pay a $500 fine and will give up all contraband seized by police. Investigators reportedly confiscated thousands of devices used to ingest illicit drugs from Hultberg's store, along with more than 3,000 packages of synthetic marijuana.
The Penn State Lady Lions are starting off this season with high expectations as they are ranked 13th in the Associated Press preseason poll, the highest of the four Big Ten schools in the voting. In total the Lady Lions will face six teams ranked in the preseason AP Top 25, including three squads from the Big Ten.
Both the NCAA and the Paterno family had attorneys at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte Tuesday morning to argue over the NCAA's preliminary objections to the Paterno's lawsuit filed against the NCAA in May. Judge John Leete made no ruling Tuesday, and did not give any indication as to when he would.
Joe Battista, Associate Athletic Director for Pegula Ice Arena and Hockey Development, has announced that he will leave Penn State Athletics, effective Nov. 8. Battista will begin his new role with Pegula’s East Management Services as its Vice President of Hockey Related Businesses Nov. 11.
Penn State is expecting to name a new president in a matter of weeks according to Keith Masser, Chairman of the Penn State Board of Trustees.
Masser updated the university's Faculty Senate Tuesday, telling the group he hopes to have a new president named by the November board of trustees meeting.
