The Penn State Student Red Cross Club is aiming to raise 409 units of blood in March as part of what it’s calling the 409 Campaign. In an effort to honor Joe Paterno’s legacy while also saving about a thousand lives if the goal is reached, the club will hold five drives in March to try and hit the total.
For 46 hours this weekend, the Bryce Jordan Center floor is covered in a sea of 708 dancers, the vast majority of which are Penn State students representing various THON organizations. Within that crowd lies the rare exception to the rule: alumni dancers.
We all know the basic stats about THON, but what are some lesser-known figures? Here's THON by the numbers.
In what is the culmination of an entire year of fundraising for the Four Diamonds Fund, dancers stood up in the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday night to officially kick off THON 2015. They won't get another chance to sit on the arena floor until 6 p.m. on Sunday after 46 straight hours of dancing.
Here in State College, residents are braving the extreme cold in the streets and students are making the frigid trek to the Bryce Jordan Center for THON. It's cold enough but it doesn't begin to compare to what 30 runners are doing as part of the Hope Express, completing a frigid 135-mile marathon of sorts from the Penn State Hershel Medical Center to the Bryce Jordan Center in less than a day.
Powerhouse EDM DJ Steve Aoki will take to the turntables inside the Bryce Jordan Center on April 10 at 7 p.m. The show is yet another huge name brought to the arena by Levels, and is certainly the first time that we can expect to see a BJC performer throw cakes into the crowd.
