After reaching the national finals in 2008, former Penn State wrestler Bubba Jenkins is taking his talents southwest to Arizona State for this coming wrestling season. Penn State revoked Jenkins' scholarship in December after an oil and water type of relationship with legendary head coach Cael Sanderson. Jenkins reportedly had trouble with Coach Sanderson's intense workouts and hard-nosed coaching philosophies, which had led Sanderson to an undefeated college career along with 4 national championships and an Olympic gold medal.

They headed home, soggy, burnt, aching, and tired. And they all seemed to have smiles on their faces.
There was an exodus Sunday and Monday morning as artists, alumni, and students alike made their way back home from the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, which finished up for the 44th time on Sunday afternoon. As always, the five days of Arts Fest included fun for all ages, from the artist's pavilions to the Allen water buckets, to the late-night debauchery of what has become a de facto midsummers reunion for PSU students and alumni.

There's been a lot going on lately at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, most notably a wave of new construction (including a new children's hospital underway and a recently opened rehabilitation hospital). The boom shows itself as a part of a recent stretch of Penn State history full of campaigns and expansions.

The 8th Annual Uplifting Athletes Lift for Life raised over $98,000 for the Kidney Cancer Association this year. The annual event, held in Holuba Hall, tests members of the Nittany Lion football team on their strength and endurance. The players form teams of 4 and compete in 11 events that "range from the ordinary (bench press) to the extreme (giant tire flip)."

I am a big Arts Fest fan. I flew in late Friday night and was extremely pumped to be back at Penn State. Here are my top 5 things I loved about this year's Arts Fest.
1. Chalk. Italian Painting. Whatever it is, it's awesome. I actually bought (okay, my boyfriend bought) a $5 block to do our own drawing in (my boyfriend just made me include that he, indeed, made the ocean look so beautiful). After months of negotiations the Spring Creek Canyon area has been parceled off and purchased, and Penn State is now the legal owner of more than 450 acres off of Benner Pike. The state Game Commission, the Fish and Boat Commission, along with Benner Township also got their own slices of the former-prison-land pie when the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted 199-1 to approve legislation authorizing the sale.
