What's an Eco-Rep you ask? Penn State has established a new program to further the university's green initiative. Twenty-eight freshman living in East Halls will be deemed “Eco-Reps.” Theses selected students will attend training and learning sessions throughout the semester on how to live Eco-friendlier lifestyles. For example, to kick off this Fall, the program will focus on electrical energy consumption in residence halls. With their new knowledge base, the Eco-Reps will be expected to pass their incite onto their peers through events, activities, and discussions.

In order to combat Dutch elm disease, which has done major damage to elm tree populations, OPP will be spraying the elm trees at Penn State with a chemical spray. Spraying will take place tonight and Thursday morning. It will be done tonight on the ground, and by helicopter beginning tomorrow morning.

It has been a few years since I got caught up in the hoopla of buying something at midnight. My last late-night purchase was one of the Harry Potter books; Half-Blood Prince, I believe. But, being as I have nothing else to do while I sit in Kentucky wasting away in a research project all summer, I decided to go out and grab NCAA Football 11 from EA Sports along side of a few other of the Bluegrass State's finest Tuesday morning.

The building of a new biobehavioral health building will close parts of, and for a while, the entire HUB lawn, for the foreseeable future. While the new building, approved by the Board of Trustees last Friday, will add 93,500 square feet to the College of Health and Human Development, one of the most widely-used parts of campus will, though temporarily, no longer exist as we know it.

After reaching the national finals in 2008, former Penn State wrestler Bubba Jenkins is taking his talents southwest to Arizona State for this coming wrestling season. Penn State revoked Jenkins' scholarship in December after an oil and water type of relationship with legendary head coach Cael Sanderson. Jenkins reportedly had trouble with Coach Sanderson's intense workouts and hard-nosed coaching philosophies, which had led Sanderson to an undefeated college career along with 4 national championships and an Olympic gold medal.

They headed home, soggy, burnt, aching, and tired. And they all seemed to have smiles on their faces.
There was an exodus Sunday and Monday morning as artists, alumni, and students alike made their way back home from the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, which finished up for the 44th time on Sunday afternoon. As always, the five days of Arts Fest included fun for all ages, from the artist's pavilions to the Allen water buckets, to the late-night debauchery of what has become a de facto midsummers reunion for PSU students and alumni.
