
Penn State lacrosse will send six players -- one current and five former -- to U.S. National Team tryouts at Groucher College in Baltimore on August 30 and September 1. The tryouts will be to determine which players will join the team for the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse Championships in Denver. Of the 98 players that were invited to participate, 40 will make the final roster.

Coach Cael Sanderson snagged another top-10 recruit yesterday, as Bo Nickal committed to the wrestling program for the Class of 2014.

It’s finally happening: Penn State basketball is returning to the building it called home from 1929-1996. At today’s press conference at the Bryce Jordan Center, basketball coach Pat Chambers and athletic director David Joyner announced that Penn State will host Princeton at Rec Hall on December 14.

Legendary Penn State gymnastics coach Gene Wettstone has passed away at 100. When he came to Penn State in 1939, meets resembled a student circus, including high wire acts, juggling, unicycles and trapeze performances. Wettstone made it his goal to get the university involved in the real sport of gymnastics. He led Penn State until 1976, earning more than 200 victories and twelve undefeated seasons. Of Penn State gymnastics' record 12 national championship, Wettstone coached nine of them.

Three women on the defending Big Ten Champions and defending National Runners-Up women's soccer team have been named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Best XI teams: First Team (senior forward Maya Hayes), Second Team (junior defender Whitney Church) and Freshman Team (defender Brittany Basinger).
