That magical time of year is quickly approaching. Summer sun gives way to autumn leaves as Saturdays are spent inside Beaver Stadium rather than on the beach. It has been seven and a half months since the Penn State Nittany Lions took the field. It feels like seven and a half years given the tumultuous offseason. With the countdown now at 15, here's 15 reasons to be excited for the 126th season of Penn State Football.

Penn State Ranks in the Top 50 World Universities

The ARWU is often used when it comes to, frankly, showing off. Plenty of schools use it as their legitimate ranking in speaking with media or simply letting future students know how great their school is. Let's face it, saying you go to one of the top 50 schools on the planet sounds pretty awesome.

Jack Johnson to Highlight Rock the Vote Event

Rock the Vote, a non-partisan organization that encourages and registers young people to vote, will be making a stop in Happy Valley on September 19th from 12-4 p.m. The Penn State stop is the last of a road trip that will have covered universities from Florida to Pennsylvania.

Penn State Graduates Live on One Dollar a Day

When asked the question “what is the minimum dollar amount per day that you could survive on?” the answer is usually more than one dollar. However, when Matt Jones and his brother Andrew Jones, along with their two friends travelled to Haiti, they decided to live on just that: one dollar per day. In a video released on August 14th, the Bucks County natives and Penn State graduates chronicle their journey to Haiti where they live in poverty just like the Haitian natives.

Penn State Student Aspires to be Stinky-Man-Child-Living-In-A-Van This Semester

Yesterday, "7mgte" posted that he is seriously considered living in a van this semester to save some cash and just like, yanno, do it for shits and gigs. Oh but he also said he hopes this will help him focus on schoolwork and stay healthy. Of course, most commenters tore him apart, letting him know how moronic his plan was (and hello? smelly?). But some people brought up valid points.

State College Spikes to Hold Fundraiser FTK

If you needed a sure sign that the THON season is right around the corner, look no further. The State College Spikes game on September 2 at 6:05 p.m. will be benefit THON, an annual event held by the local Pittsburgh Pirates minor league affiliate. Tickets are $6 and a portion of the proceeds will go to support THON’s efforts in raising money for pediatric cancer.
