
After more than three decades at Penn State, Wayne Smutz, Penn State’s World Campus Executive Director, has been named dean of Continuing Education and Extension at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Community members and Penn State supporters packed the main meeting room in the State College Municipal building Wednesday night to participate in an engaging discussion about university governance organized by State Representative Scott Conklin. Penn State Trustees Keith Eckel, Paul Silvis, Abe Harpster, Ted Brown, and Anthony Lubrano all participated in the dialogue centered around Conklin's Board of Trustees reform bills.

It turns out, Blue Band alumni have the best weddings. Penn Staters Joanna Guldin and John Noll got married this weekend and their old Blue Band buddies showed up to play some fight songs at the wedding reception. There really is nothing better than a Penn State wedding!

The Center for World University Rankings has released its 2013 ranking of the top 100 degree-granting institutions of higher education, and our own Penn State University came in at No. 50 -- a jump up from No. 64 on the same list last year.

Throughout his life, Brent North, a resident of Toledo, Ohio, had falsely claimed that he was a Navy SEAL, an ATF agent, and a star quarterback at Penn State in 1986. Although fibbing about being a Nittany Lion football player isn't illegal, lying about being a federal agent is, and North was recently indicted for Impersonating a Federal Agent.

The Penn State Board of Trustees met this morning at Penn State's Fayette campus to discuss and vote on a number of issues, including the 2013-2014 operating budget, a contentious vice chair election, tuition increases, and settlements with Sandusky victims.
