
THON announced last night via Facebook that it will create a new initiative to "Gold Out" the stands for this Saturday's game against Illinois to help show support for pediatric cancer awareness.

The first big event of the THON season kicked off on Saturday with the annual FT5K. The 5K began with a multitude of festivities before the race began, including the always-inspiring Kid’s Race.

National organization Headbands of Hope is teaming up with Omega Phi Alpha and Alpha Gamma Rho from now until February to raise money for THON and provide one free headband or headwear item to a Four Diamonds child for each headband purchased.

Tyler Knabb's mother passed away from cancer on July 16, 2003. He turned 14 years old that same day. Now, ten years later, Knabb is doing his part to fight cancer. He's the force behind "Cycling for the Kids," a statewide bicycling fundraiser. Knabb will be pedaling all around Pennsylvania to raising money for a THON organization called The Hope Express.
