
Penn Stater and versatile Major League Baseball reporter Tom Verducci was named the National Sportswriter of the Year yesterday by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Penn State back-up quarterback D.J. Crook followed the lead of Michael O'Connor today, announcing via Twitter that he will transfer to Albany of the FCS.
For the second year in a row, James Franklin will appear on ESPN in advance of the national championship game. He'll join a coaches roundtable Thursday and tape segments for Sunday's Championship Drive.

After a brief scare over the past week, it appears that Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop will be staying in Happy Valley after all. Shoop was connected to the vacant LSU defensive coordinator position and was reportedly on the short list for the job.

As I'm sure all of you are aware, the college football season (and by extension, bowl season) is not officially over yet. Oregon and Ohio State are playing for the National Championship on Monday, January 12th. However, the Associated Press has already named its All-Bowl team for this season, featuring one Nittany Lion with a flair for the dramatic.
