Rick Santorum to Visit Penn State Tuesday

Former two-term United States Senator and current Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is hitting the campaign trail this week and has several events planned in Centre County on Tuesday. Santorum, who graduated from Penn State in 1980, is scheduled to appear at the Centre County Grange Fair early in the afternoon and will later hold a public meet-and-greet in the HUB-Robeson Center.

Santorum, who is coming off a strong fourth place finish in the Ames Straw Poll, is in the middle of a Pennsylvania fundraising and campaign swing where he will try to tap his home base as he prepares for the upcoming Republican primaries.

The Penn State event is hosted by the College Republicans for which Santorum is a former President and will begin at approximately 7:00 PM in 106 HUB. The public is invited, but I would be cautious if you plan to research the candidate beforehand. Take my word for it.

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
