Penn State Hockey Climbs To No. 3 In USCHO Poll
It’s starting to feel like we write this every week: Penn State hockey smashed through another record. The Nittany Lions jumped to No. 3in the USCHO Poll with 830 voter points.
This is coming off the heels of a Michigan sweep, a series that extended Penn State’s unbeaten streak to 13 games (best in the nation). Bucci was in attendance on Thursday, and he put the Nittany Lions in his top five:

Penn State leads the Big Ten, and this series knocked Michigan out of the top 20. One could say Michigan still sucks. It looks like Penn State’s fiercest conference competition this season might be Ohio State, who the Nittany Lions face on the road right after this month-long break.
After a not-so-challenging non-conference schedule, the routing of Michigan indicates the Lions are the real deal. Freshman Denis Smirnov is third in the nation in scoring, with 10 goals and 17 assists. Andrew Sturtz is second in goals with 13 in 13 consecutive games. Penn State’s offense in general tops the nation in goals with 73, and 4.87 per game on average. Don’t sleep on the defense either. Goalie Peyton Jones ranks ninth in the nation with only 1.9726 goals allowed per game, and the defense in general is third in the nation.
Penn State is on a month-long break, which coach Gadowsky said it’s using to work on school and strength. The Nittany Lions return to face Ohio State on the road January 6.
